Biography
Legendary decathlete and multi-events coach. Considered one of the finest decathletes ever compete in Africa. Became first athlete to won four decathlon titles in African Champs, this feat only equalled by his fellow athlete Larbi Bouradaa recently (2018).
Bacha was the first African athlete to achieve 8000 points (1962 table) in decathlon when he scored 8006 in Cairo in 3 June 1982. Later, his 8006-pts score updated as 7897 after new scoring table ousting in 1985. His personal best came in 1985 with 7934 points.
Bacha was excellent javelin thrower (even he broke African championships record with 80.04 metres in old javelin!) and also very good in pole vault. He won 23 national titles in decathlon, pole vault, shot put, javelin and discus.
After his retirement in 1994, Bacha became one of the most prominent coaches in his country. He was a leading lecturers in Algeria.

TRIVIA
♦ Sadly, he was not able to compete Olympics. Once he attended World Championships in Helsinki where retired after third event.
♦ His athletes Yasmina Azzizi and Larbi Bouradaa competed in high-class. Azzizi secured fifth-place in Tokyo 1991, Bourada also secured fifth place in 2016 Rio Olympics. Both of them broke African records in multi-events.
♦ Nicknamed "Dadi". His father Abdallah, former volleyball player. Younger brother, Mourad was also international decathlete.
