Biography
First Fijian athlete who represent the island at the Olympics. Rakuro, worked as a teacher, contested two Olympics and two Commonwealth Games for his home nation. At the age of 38, he was collapsed in his home. He set Fijian discus record of 51.84m in London's White City Stadium, which stood until 2019 for 61 years.

"Mesulame Rakuro, probably Fiji’s most travelled international sportsman, and first Olympian, collapsed and died suddenly at
his home at the Drasa Training Farm, near Lautoka on June 13. He was 38."
