Malaysian Athletics Championships (Pesta Sukan Perak in Malay language) inagurated in 1906 in Ipoh, Perak State capital. Thus gave it 'oldest national athletics championships' title in Asian continent. The event turned "Open" for foreign athletes in 1968 and then became one of the leading annual meet in South East Asian region.
