On the fifth day of the European Championships, Karsten Warholm claimed his third continental title in a row and established an amazing championship record. He clocked 46.98 in a fast race to lowered his previous champs best by 0.14, ahead of Alessandro Sibilio of Italy, who also broke 21-year-old national record from 47.54 to 47.50. Additionally, Sweden's Carl Bengström won the bronze medal with a new NR as well after his finish at 47.94. 

On the women's side, The Netherland's superstar Femke Bol improved her 400m hurdles championship record from two years ago by 0.18 seconds to 52.49. The Netherlands had two athletes on the podium, Cathelijn Petters winning bronze. 

Although double championship record were broken in the hurdles, most notable contest at the night was men's triple jump. Portugal's Pedro Pichardo improved Jonathan Edwards' 28-year-old championships record by five centimeters to 18.04 meters. However, Jordan Alejandro Diaz Fortun, the hottest name this season, surpassed Pichardo's mark by 14 centimeters to 18.18 metres. The 23-year-old Cuban-born Spaniard established the third farthest jump in athletics history behind all-time greats Jonathan Edwards and Christian Taylor. 

Italian darling Nadia Battocletti completed the distance double on the night with a high note. The 24-year-old national record holder lowered it from 31:05.57 to 30:51.32, becoming one of the stars in Rome 2024.

Gianmarco Tamberi, one of the biggest Italian stars in sports, retained his title in front of the crowd by breaking a 24-year-old championship record by improving it to 2.37 metres in the first attempt. Two Ukrainian athletes were on the podium just like women's contest, Vladyslav Lavskyy was second in 2.29, and Oleh Doroschuk was third in 2.26.

Johannes Erm brought Estonia the European decathlon title after 26 years. Erm collected 8764 points, followed by Sander Skotheim, who improved the Norwegian national record by 27 points to 8635. The 22-year-old Norwegian also took the European U23 Leading. French Gletty Makenson won the bronze medal. 

Victoria Hudson achieved the most important career success by becoming European champion. The Austrian outpaced Adriana Vilagos and Marie-Therese Obst with a throw of 64.62 meters. Hudson became first Austrian gold medallist at the European Championships since Helsinki 1971. The 20-year-old Serbian Vilagos improved the national record to 64.42 and missed the top by 20 centimetres.

 In the last final of the evening, Swiss Mujinga Kambundji retained her title in the women's 200m in a very close final. She clocked 22.49 to grab it from Daryll Neita of Britain who just finished second in 22.50.
