European Throwing Cup was held for the 24th time in Nicosia at the weekend. The competition saw roughly 300 throwers from 39 nations, but many big names skipped the event as they did in recent seasons. Only one of the six current European Olympic medallists was there, Hungarian hammer thrower Bence Halasz. Fresh European Indoor title owners in shot put did not attend the Cup contest, but it's understandable due to the very tight European calendar.

When we're checking the overall performance analysis, it shows us the female athlete's contribution are highest level in many years. Recent editions of the European Throws isn't looking stable for total scoring as it topped in 2021 with the help of enormous effects after two javelin performances, which came from Maria Andrejczyk and Johannes Vetter. The 2025 tournament was ranked fifth among the Top 10 editions and scored 17,856 points, a mere 162 points more than the overall points average (17,696 pts). It can be even worse, but stunning efforts from the two young female throwers on the same day (15 March) in Nicosia saved this year's average. The four senior marks total in women's side up to an all-time high 4703 points in Nicosia thanks to Silja Kosonen's hammer record in 77.07m and Serbian star Adriana Vilagos's national mark of 66.88m in javelin.

This is the top five overall scoring points at the European Throws Cup:

2021 Split: 18,125 pts

2014 Leiria: 17,986 pts

2012 Bar: 17,915 pts

2018 Leiria: 17,914 pts

2025 Nicosia: 17,856 pts

This year's total female score is 8865 points - including U23 events, which became the second highest in the last 10 years and had the narrowest margin (126 pts) with men's total since 2013. This proved the women's contribution to the overall have gained some significance since its peak in 2012, when the competition had Sandra Perkovic, Nadine Müller and Tatyana Lysenko.

Below table shows the percentage of female contribution to overall points. The interesting fact is clear. Nicosia 2025 has the highest level in terms of contribution in the last twelve years:

2012 Bar: %50.42

2007 Yalta: %49.95

2013 Castellon: %49.73

2010 Arles: %49.69

2025 Nicosia: %49.65
