We compiled daily notes from Mediterranean Games athletics competition. Day two notes are below.
♦ Joao Coelho's 400m victory gave Portugal to their first Med Games athletics gold in history. They debuted at the Games in 2018.
♦ 15-men 1500 metres final won by Frenchman Azeddine Habz who took first gold for the country after Split 1979.
♦ Turkish record holder Ersu Şaşma wins the PV final with 5.75 metres games record. He also became first-ever Turkish medallist at the event. Greek Ioannis Rizos secured third-place behind Frenchman Anthony Ammirati and brought 10th PV medal to Greece.
♦ Former World silver medallist Ihab Abderrahman of Egypt finished second after Portuguese Leandro Ramos. The Egyptian secured second Med Games silver after 2013.
♦ Former Olympic medallist Ekaterina Guliyev wins women's 800 metres over Italian Eloisa Coiro. She changed her nationality from Russia to Turkey after married to Ramil Guliyev who is through to 200m final as well.
♦ Former European champion Yasemin Can easily clinched 5000 metres title which brings Turkey to top of the medal table. Turkish team reached six titles - best ever in their Mediterranean Games history.
♦ Javelin throw's new face Serbian Adriana Vilagos reached 60 metres mark in Oran (60.22) to take Med Games gold over Olympic fourth-placer Eda Tuğsuz. Alizee Minard of France took the bronze after very last attempt and became first Frenchwomen to get JT podium in 25 years.
