Biography

World Indoor medallist high jumper. He won several international titles including African, Mediterranean and Pan Arab Games. He competed in 1980 Olympics (28th overall, 2.05m), also took part at the World Champs in three occasions (1983, 1987, 1991) - did not qualified for the final.

Contested inaugural World Indoor Athletics Games in 1985, he finished third after Patrick Sjöberg and Javier Sotomayor in Paris Bercy. This medal still stood one of the two podiums ever held an Algerian at World Indoor (other came from Noureddine Morceli).

He won seven consecutive (1988-94) national titles in high jump.
