Biography
Austrian/Turkish Olympian. As a Jewish, he immigrated to Turkey in 1938 after Nazi annexation of Austria.
Contested in Berlin Olympics for Austria both 200m and 400m heats. After Nazi opression in Austria in 1938, Jewish-origin König worried about his life and immigrated to Istanbul, where his father originally came from. Renamed himself as Ali Ferit Gören, then competed for Turkish team and broke national records & won Balkan titles. Also wins Austrian 400m title in 1936.
Later, he worked as sports teacher in Kuleli Military School during 1940s and 50s, as well as commercial representative for the international firms. He relocated his family in 1980 to settled in Italy. Died near Rome in 1987.
