History
Oceanian Area Athletics Championships inaugurated in 1990. It's the latest established continental championships in the World. Although domination led by Australia and New Zealand over -mostly - tiny islands in the region, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, and Western Samoa have won plenty of successes. Until 2010, OAC held every two years, but mainly lack of high-class attendance especially from Australians. In the year of 2011 and 2012, Oceanian Athletics tried two-division championships, which separated as East and West, but it didn't work well. Starting from 2013, the championship merged again and progressed continuously. 2019 edition was the strongest competition ever held in OAC with a stunning atmosphere in Townsville.
