Biography

Double Olympic gold medalist (1976, 1984) in the 400m hurdles. Moses has not only been one of the giants of track and field, but has been also one of the legends of sports history.

He dominated his event 400m hurdles for a decade winning 122 straight races from 1977 to 1987. Being among the greatest U.S. Olympians of all time throughout this period, Moses set the world record in the event four times. His dedication to his training program and education led him to be one of the best stars of sports history. He has been one of the most respected athletes during his competitive period as well as his contributions to athletics as sports administrative.

♦ His parents were educators, so Moses took academics seriously when he was a child.
♦ Moses played basketball and football in the high school years, but turned to track and gymnastics.
♦ Bought his first pair of running shoes in Paris during a trip he took there with the high school French club.
♦ During school years he was called ‘Kermit’ because of his frog legs.
♦ Ballet and physics were cross disciplines he has taken information from.
♦ In the early days of his college career, his poor vision was forcing him on the track.
♦ He started learning about business when he was competing as an athlete.
♦ Participated in the development of a number of anti-drug policies as a sports administrator.
♦ In 1988 he designed and created amateur sports' first random out-of-competition drug testing program.
♦ A physicist with an MBA degree.
♦ Doctor of Science Board Member since 2010.
♦ Served on the International Olympic Committee as a member of several titles such as International Amateur Athletic Association, Athletes Commission, Ethics Commission, and Medical Commission as well as on the Athletes Advisory and Executive Committees of the USA Olympic & Paralympic Committee.
♦ Chairman of the Laureus World Sports Academy since the election of the foundation in 2000.
♦ Serves for the World Anti-Doping Agency’s Education Committee.
♦ Married twice and has one child.
